Had a breakthrough on my snatch today. All it took was a quatrillion sets, frustrating form work, wanting to throw something against the wall, wanting to cry and throw in the towel, a whole lot of “there’s no way you’re doing that” and a bribe of twenty bucks.
I never got the twenty bucks (and don’t expect to), but I’m FINALLY MAKING PROGRESS ON MY SNATCH AGAIN, and I don’t feel like such an impostor at the gym any more. The rest of the workout sucked, and I spent four hours doing a lab after practice. I was this close to doing 43 kilos — beating my personal best by a good 5 — but I was tired and my thumb wasn’t having it.
I think I might have a strained intercostal or erector (ha) muscle, but that shit ain’t getting me down.
Fuck talent. Fuck “natural skill”. Fuck “but I’m uncoordinated” or “I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing”. Tomorrow, we do it all over again.
